The Growth of Unemployment

The graphic below illustrating the growth of unemployment in the United States speaks for itself.  It starts with a display of unemployment in January 2007, with unemployment at 4.6%, and shows the increases in graphical progression until October 2009, when the unemployment rate was at 8.8%. 

According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the adjusted unemployment increased to a maximum of 10.1% in October 2009 and was 9.7% in January 2010.  The specific BLS unemployment data can be found at this link
